Netball in the City

We were commissioned by our client to provide an outdoor PA system to cover a temporary netball court in Devonshire Square, London EC2. The brief was that the system had to be small and discreet, but the commentary must be clearly audible to the players and all spectators surrounding the court.   We deployed four d&b audiotechnik E3 loudspeakers on twin forks, perfect for the job and providing loud & clear even sound coverage of the area.

Seven local teams attended to paricipate in skills training with girls from the England Netball Team, whom at the time of writing, are ranked No.3 in the world.   Following the skills training, there was a game against members of the England Team.   Needless to say, the England girls remained unbeaten throughout the whole day!

We provided four aerobic headset microphones for the Team, enabling them to give a hands-free commentary whilst playing and a handheld for the compere.    The robust beltpack transmitters and headsets are ideal for sporting and fitness activities.   UHF equipment was Trantec S5.3 operating within channel 38 through a small format Soundcraft EPM6 mixing desk.

Miking up the players made very entertaining viewing as the audience could hear what the team were saying to each other and all the calls across the court that you wouldn't normally hear.   This definitely made the game more interesting to watch and added a new dimension from a spectator's point of view. The event was a huge success, the weather was favourable and a great time had by all.
