Celebrity Cricket Match

Chalke Valley Cricket Club commissioned our services for the Grand Opening of their new ground at Butts Field, Bower Chalke, on 27th June.   The brief was to provide power along with two PA systems, to cover both the perimeter of the pitch for match commentary and the marquee for a pre-match champagne luncheon and charity auction.

Chalke Valley CC welcomed Bunbury CC - the world famous celebrity cricket team - to their new Ground. David English CBE, founder and captain of the Bunburies, Roger Dakin and Captain Edmund Addington gave speeches, prior to the Charity Auction, which raised in excess of £22,000 towards the Club and Help the Heroes.   We deployed four d&b audiotechnik E3 boxes on two twin forks along the back wall of the marquee and provided a wireless microphone for the speeches. The wide dispertion pattern, high gain before feedback characteristics and physical positioning of the E3 boxes ensured all of the 240 seated guests could clearly hear the speeches.

Around the pitch, we provided an outdoor PA system, to ensure complete coverage so that all the spectators could hear the match commentary. Sennheiser 500 series UHF kit was deployed with this system. During afternoon tea, pilot Clive Denney flew a Spitfire over the ground in a maginificent display of twisting and turning moves, finishing with a victory roll before the plane left Chalke Valley and roared off into the distance.

Both our client and the visiting Bunbury CC commentator remarked on the quality and clarity of the PA system.
