Half Marathon PA system

For the third year running, on 18th February we returned to Giggs Hill Green, Thames Ditton, for one of our favourite runs - The Original Hampton Court Half Marathon, hosted by top race organisers KBC Special Events.   A crisp & cold morning, we arrived onsite by 5.30am...

To maximise sound coverage, we set up loudspeaker clusters around all four aspects of the central cricket pitch, to provide loud and clear announcements covering the participants' assembly, baggage, start and finish areas.   Giggs Hill Green quickly filled up from 7.15am onwards...

The loudspeaker clusters were d&b audiotechnik E8 cabinets, mounted across twin forks on 3.5mtr high winch stands, each cluster providing 180degrees on axis coverage, resulting in even sound levels across the site.   Sennheiser G3 300 series radio microphone equipment was deployed, with external paddle antennae mounted to the top of our control van, to maximise radio frequency range.   To complete our self contained outdoor sound system package, we supplied a Stephill 6kVA silenced diesel generator and a  sound technician onsite throughout.

We played running themed tracks during the event to set the mood for the day, in between KBC's race commentator making his announcements and encouraging runners as they approached the finishing line.  Attendance was around 5,000 and the weather was kind throughout, especially in light of the snow that blanketed England a few days later!

If you are organising an outdoor run, walk, sporting or other community event and need an outdoor sound solution that is loud, clear and reliable, with a user friendly technician onsite throughout, then get in touch with us today.
